What Latin America Can Offer Retirees

USA Today published an article in June called, "Retirees Eye Lower the Cost of Living in Latin America". The article focused on American retirees that were either planning to relocate or have already moved to a retirement community somewhere in Latin America and were happy with the decisions they made. Why Latin America of all places? Because many regions in Latin America have consistently beautiful weather, retirees can receive high quality, yet affordable healthcare and it's still very close to the United States.

Investors often turn to offshore banking because it has a number of appealing qualities. One of these aspects is that it provides people with different ways to minimize their tax burdens. In most cases, they allow almost any investor to have anonymous banking transactions. These are known as foreign tax shelters, and they come from countries that have lower taxes than the United States on average. Belize, for example, is an ideal country for these shelters because of the nation's tax laws.

Maersk Stands up for Nicaraguan Canal

An endorsement from global shipping line Maersk for Nicaragua's US$40bn inter-oceanic canal is welcome news for the country's construction chamber, according to its president Benjamín Lanzas.

"Obviously when a company like that, which is one of the biggest in the world in terms of logistic transport, speaks well of Nicaragua's interoceanic canal, I think that is a good push," Lanzas told Nicaraguan news outlet El Pueblo Presidente.
