ECI Development Plays Role in Shipping Unused Sports Uniforms, from Pittsburgh to Nicaragua

ECI Development and Gran Pacifica Resort played a coordinating role in furnishing students in rural Nicaragua schools with sports uniforms of major league caliber. When a private school near Pittsburgh closed (Mt. Gallitzin Academy), it had no further use for brand-new jerseys and shorts produced from the same fabric and by the same company that manufacturers the uniforms of the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.
When it became known that there was a use for the Mt. Gallitzin uniforms in Nicaragua, Sister Christy Hill, CSJ of the Sisters of St. Joseph and board members of the Rotary Club of Beaver, PA took action. The Beaver Rotary Club made a $1,000 donation for shipping, and Pittsburgh's Brother's Brother Foundation managed the logistics of transporting eight tubs filled with basketball, soccer and cheerleader uniforms plus soccer shin guards. The items arrived in good shape and were put into immediate use by students eager to look good while playing their favorite sports
