Vistas del Lago—Living the Dream
It takes a certain pioneer spirit to live at Vistas del Lago. Founding residents Ed and Beaty Fomby speak annually at the International Living conference in Costa Rica about the experience. As with most things in life, you just won't get it until you experience it for yourself.
Good analogies to initiate you on your way to understanding are the many roads we all traveled to get here. Personified best by the one that leads us home. As yet, VDL is accessible only by an unpaved road. Which means it's still inaccessible to anyone not quite up for adventure.
There are lake people, and there are the rest. Safe to say Lake Arenal has unique offerings to suit the whims of the very rich—both kinds.
Windsurf, waterski, wake-board, paddle-board, sail, kite surf, kayak or just relax on a pontoon viewing of the volcano.
There aren't a whole lot of people willing to make the sacrifice or put in the hard work it takes to make these types of decisions. We like it that way.
Ask Kevin and Brenda how hard they work every day to make time for rest, rejuvenation and recreation between baking exquisite treats infused with local fruits and identifying the latest new species to make an appearance in the front yard. There's hardly any time left for fishing!

Cool lake breezes characterize this part of the country. It's higher in elevation but somehow more down to earth. There is less rain on the leeward side, but more wind depending on the season. A day without afternoon sun is rare and appreciated precisely for that reason.
Our residents are independent thinkers. We are communicators, educators, engineers, builders and volunteers. Soon it will be time for one of us to organize planting organic gardens in the common areas.
On any given day you may find the townspeople of Tronadora gathered under double rainbows in the plaza to walk and talk and watch their children play.
It feels a bit like going back in time. With high speed internet. In the rain forest.

The only grand piano on the lake (we know of) is in our office destined for the community clubhouse.
We're musical people busying ourselves composing a better life.
We enjoy our gourmet junk food dinners with top shelf liquor at the infamous Chef Eyal's Gingerbread restaurant. The likes of which, you would be loath to find anywhere else in the world. Often enough worth mentioning, Tyrone the nearby neighborhood chef prepares a grand meal with the catch of the day donated generously by those of us who love fishing together. Everyone is invited.
And for those who enjoy nothing better than having nowhere to go and nothing to do, there is plenty of that too—in abundance.
